Kids Mediate
The training enables schools and organisations that work with young people to set up a 'Kids Mediate' service. We train you to be able to train young people to mediate disagreements between their peers by using the same process used in employment and family disputes. This specialist training and practice develops excellent life skills including active listening, co-operation and problem solving. Ofsted consistently praise peer mediators for their contribution to school’s behaviour and safety and the DFE research highlights the efficacy of peer mediation in reducing bullying. From teachers and playground staff we have heard that their work environments have improved, playgrounds are calmer and there is less bullying.
'Excellent trainers. A lovely experience all round - stimulating, enjoyable and very lovely lunch..Good mix of content/roleplay/video. Enjoyed the circle time games and communication exercises. Explanation of peer mediation clear, lovely intelligent group of people. Really glad I came.. We ran a 'Kids Mediate' Training course for Teachers & Teaching Assistants at Hay Literature Festival:
“We are already seeing the benefits. One of the lunchtime supervisors the other day said ‘I feel redundant!’ which shows it is working and in fact going really well” Joanna Bryan, Head of Peterchurch Primary School, Herefordshire.
“Wellington and Clifford were visited by Ofsted this week. In both schools pupils and staff talked about the success of peer mediators. Thank you once again for inviting our schools to be part of the project. The children have benefitted immensely”. Marie Thomas, Head of Clifford and Wellington Primaries.
We provide this training in partnership with Healthy Minds who have been working in schools over a decade. The course is run over two days. The total cost is £195 per participant (or £170 per person for two bookings). This includes lunch, refreshments and all course materials.
